What to say when you match with someone (templates)

After a mutual right swipe, Netch creates a match.

Netch also sends an automatic intro message with both calendar links.

You can then keep the conversation going in Chat.

    When to use these templates

Use these as a starting point when you want to send a first message that feels relevant and easy to reply to.

Keep the message focused on one clear reason for reaching out.

Short messages usually work better than long ones.

    Peer learning

Use this when you want to compare notes, share experience, or learn how someone solves a problem.

    Try:

    • "Saw your profile and noticed you work on onboarding. What is the biggest drop-off point for you right now?"
    • "You mentioned retention. What metric are you watching most closely this quarter?"
    • "I noticed you work in RevOps. How are you handling handoffs between sales and CS?"

Make it more human by adding the exact topic you want to discuss.

For example, mention a specific tool, metric, or workflow.

    Hiring

Use this when you want to learn about their team, hiring plans, or a role they are building.

    Try:

    • "I saw you are hiring in product marketing. What does the team need most right now?"
    • "Your profile mentions a growing CS team. What kind of experience are you looking for?"
    • "I noticed your company is scaling fast. Which role has been hardest to fill?"

    Keep it direct.

If you are reaching out about a job, say what role or skill set you are interested in.

    Partnerships

Use this when there may be a useful product, channel, or customer overlap.

    Try:

    • "Your team works in the same space we do. Are you open to comparing notes on partnerships?"
    • "I noticed we both serve SaaS teams. Do you ever explore co-marketing or referral ideas?"
    • "Your profile made me think there may be overlap between our audiences. Would it be useful to chat?"

    Make the overlap concrete.

Name the audience, segment, or use case that connects you.

    Local meetups

Use this when you matched with someone nearby and want to turn the match into a real conversation.

    Try:

    • "Looks like we are both in London. Are you open to a coffee sometime?"
    • "I noticed you are also based in New York. Have you found any good local SaaS meetups lately?"
    • "We seem to be in the same city. Want to compare notes in person sometime?"

    Keep location references accurate.

Only mention a city or region if it is relevant and visible in the profile or context.

    Event context

Use this when you met through an event, conference, side dinner, or meetup.

    Try:

    • "Good meeting you at the event. I liked your point about pipeline quality."
    • "Nice meeting you at SaaStock. What are you focusing on next after the conference?"
    • "We crossed paths at the meetup. I wanted to follow up on the point you made about activation."

Add the event name when you can.

That makes the message easier to place and easier to answer.

How to make any template sound human

Swap the generic part for one real detail from the profile or conversation.

Use one detail, one question, and one reason for reaching out.

    Good examples:

    • mention a tool they listed
    • mention a role they own
    • mention the event you both attended
    • mention a problem they said they care about

Keep the wording natural in Chat.

Text-only messages work best when they read like a short note, not a pitch.

    Simple formula

    Use this structure:

What you noticed + why it matters + one question

    Example:

"I noticed you work on retention. We are focused on the same problem. What is the main lever you are testing right now?"

That is enough to start a real conversation in Chat.
