How to write a bio that attracts the right people

Your bio is the first thing other SaaS professionals read before deciding whether to connect with you. A strong bio gets you more swipes back. A weak one gets you ignored, no matter how good your experience is.

    The two bio fields

    Professional Bio

This field is mandatory. It must be at least 10 characters to unlock Discover, but the minimum is not a target.

The Professional Bio is your main pitch. Other members read it to understand who you are, what you do, and whether connecting makes sense for them. Write 2 to 4 sentences. Be specific.

A good Professional Bio answers three things:

    • What do you do, and in what kind of company or context?
    • What have you actually worked on or built?
    • What are you looking for from a connection?

Example of a good Professional Bio:

"Head of Growth at a Series A B2B SaaS startup. I've spent the last 4 years building acquisition funnels and running experiments across PLG and sales-assisted motions. Looking to connect with other growth and product people working on similar problems."

That's specific, human, and gives someone a clear reason to swipe right.

    What to avoid:

    • Generic openers like "I'm a product manager with 10 years of experience"
    • Copy-pasted LinkedIn summaries
    • Long paragraphs with no clear point
    • Buzzwords without substance: "strategic", "passionate", "results-driven"

If your bio could belong to anyone, rewrite it.

    Personal Bio

This field is optional. Maximum 500 characters.

The Personal Bio is not a second work summary. It's the human layer. Hobbies, side projects, how you spend weekends, what you're reading or building outside of work. It gives people a reason to connect beyond the job title.

You don't need to be interesting. You need to be real. One or two sentences is enough.

Example of a good Personal Bio:

"Building a sourdough obsession in parallel with my SaaS career. Weekend hiker, occasional conference speaker, slow reader of long books."

    What to avoid:

    • Restating your job
    • Leaving it empty if you have anything genuine to say
    • Over-polished statements that sound like a press release

    Where bios appear

Both bios are shown on your public profile. Other members see them when they're deciding whether to swipe right on you. The Professional Bio carries the most weight in that decision.

    How to edit your bio

    1. Go to Settings > Profile.
    2. Find the Professional Bio or Personal Bio fields.
    3. Update the text.
    4. Hit Update Profile.

Changes are visible to other members immediately.
