How to prepare before an event

A few minutes of preparation before the event makes a real difference. The goal is to be visible to other attendees, have a clear idea of who you want to meet, and make the first outreach easy.

    Complete your profile first

Other attendees can only see you in Discover if your profile is complete.

Go to Settings > Profile and fill in all 7 Basics fields:

    • Full Name
    • Job Title
    • Company
    • Country
    • Professional Bio
    • Goals
    • Calendar Link

If any of these are missing, your card does not appear in Discover and your swipes are not recorded. Other attendees who filter by your event will not find you.

The optional Stand Out fields (Industry, Sectors, Skills, Tools) make your profile easier to scan and help the right people decide to connect. Add them if you have a few extra minutes.

Make sure your calendar link works

Your calendar link is what turns a match into a real meeting. Netch includes it in the automatic intro message sent to both people after a match.

Test your link in an incognito window before the event. Make sure it opens a booking page that lets someone schedule time without logging in.

If you do not have a booking page yet, see "How to add your calendar link" in the Help Center.

Apply the Event filter in Discover

    Once your profile is ready:

    1. Open Discover
    2. Tap Filters
    3. Select your event from the Event field
    4. Tap Apply Filters

Browse the results and pick a short list of people you would genuinely want to meet. Three to five is enough for most events.

    Prepare one good opener

Have a short message ready before you start matching.

A good opener does three things:

    • Names the event
    • Points to one profile detail, goal, or shared background
    • Suggests a clear next step

    Example:

"Saw we are both going to the same event. I liked your background in SaaS ops, want to connect before it starts?"

You do not need to write something unique for every match. A clean, adaptable template is enough to get conversations started.

Know your goal for the event

Decide what you want from the event before you arrive.

    A few useful goals:

    • Meet three to five people you would not have met otherwise
    • Find someone working on the same problem you are
    • Set up one follow-up call for after the event
    • Have a few useful conversations, not a crowded schedule

Keeping the goal small makes it easier to follow through.
