After the event: how to keep the relationship going

After an event, the context is still fresh. A short follow-up sent the same day or the next morning lands much better than one sent a week later.

    Follow up fast

Send a message soon after the event ends.

Keep it short. One clear note is enough. People remember the event and the conversation while they are still close to it.

    Example:

"Good meeting you at the event. I liked your point about partner-led growth. I found the article we mentioned, sharing it here. If useful, we could continue by call next week."

    Reference the shared context

Use the event as the reason to reach out. Mention one specific detail from your conversation: a topic you discussed, a problem you both mentioned, or an idea that came up.

That makes the follow-up feel connected, not generic.

    Useful things to reference:

    • A topic you discussed in person
    • A company or person that came up
    • A resource or idea you mentioned you would share
    • The next step you agreed on before leaving

    Share a clear next step

If there is a next action, say it plainly.

    Useful next steps:

    • Share a link or resource you mentioned
    • Suggest a call to go deeper on a topic
    • Offer an intro to someone relevant
    • Confirm who will follow up on what

    Example:

"I will send the intro later today. Let me know if you want to set up a short call to discuss it first."

If the next step is already clear from your in-person conversation, just confirm it.

Use Chat to keep the relationship warm

Chat is the easiest place to continue the relationship after the event.

If the conversation works better live, move to a call. Use the calendar links that appear in your match intro message to book time directly.

Start in Chat, then move to a call when there is more to discuss.

    When to archive

Archive the chat when the follow-up is complete and there is nothing left to do.

Keep the chat active when you still owe a resource, are waiting on a reply, or want to arrange a call.

If the thread is finished, archive it to keep your active view clean.
